In the ever changing world of social media, it’s becoming a full time job to keep up with the trends, changes, rules, and content.  LinkedIn and Facebook have made significant changes to their business pages.  Between key words, product pages, and the ability to add interactive graphics to your pages, design and prioritizing key words has become imperative.  Whether you’re responsible for your company’s page or just your own professional profiles I am sure you have your hands full.

The importance of professional social media for branding continues to grow.  I don’t know about you, but when I am researching anything, whether it’s a new software program, a camp for my daughter, or I am looking for background on an individual before a business meeting, the first place I go is Google!  If it’s a product, usually a review or website will appear first on the list.  If it’s an individual, more than likely, the first thing that will pop up is their LinkedIn profile.

If you’re branding yourself or your business/product, here are a few things to keep in mind.

brand

  1. Complete your Profile and keep it updated.  Be sure your profile picture depicts the type of professional image you want to portray for yourself or your business.  When your job changes or you learn new skills, update your profile.

  2. Keywords!  The more often you repeat the same words, the better chance you have of showing up in a search or being indexed.  If you’re searching for a position or someone is searching for a product, you want to be listed above your competition.  For example, if you are selling or implementing Integration Software, you want to be sure that “Integration Software” appears in your profile, skills, and/or product pages on LinkedIn.

  3. Connect/Follow.  Connect to people in your industry, location, or profession to expand the reach of your network.  Share industry news, like a co-worker's promotion, be visible and get your name out there professionally, so people recognize you and or your brand.  Follow companies that you work with.  Share and encourage connections to follow your business.  Remedi's “Followers” have more than tripled since I started in 2012.

  4. Showcase your products.  Create Showcase pages for your products or services.  Showcase yourself in your profile, list awards, achievements, skills, and promotions.

  5. Ask for Recommendations and Endorsements.  Have your coworkers endorse your EDI, Integration, or B2B software skills and knowledge.  Satisfied customers can easily recommend you, your products, or services.  Strong recommendations and endorsements will keep you ahead of the competition.

Your personal brand is as important as your product or company.  Whether you’re in Sales, Training, IT, Recruiting, or Management, the best way to advance your professional career is your personal brand.  Be recognized and an expert in your industry.  I hope these tips will help keep you on the top of competition and recognized as an expert in your industry.  REMEDI strives to be the best provider of B2B, MFT, EDI, and Integration tools and knowledge!
